On a clear and beautiful Tuesday morning, 6 men joined D2 to play baseball. Well, technically there was not a bat or a ball, so maybe baseball is a stretch (7th ining joke). But I had bases and that was enough for me.
As always the morning started with a disclaimer followed by a good warm-up.
Warm-Up
- Arm Circles
- Overhead claps
- More arm circles
- Neck rotations
- Imperial walkers
- Squats
- Yoga – Up / Down dogs
- Plank o rama with a few merkins
The Baseball Workout – I brought 4 cones that were used as “bases”. Each base was assigned an exercise.
- 1st base – Merkin
- 2nd base – Squat
- 3rd base – Shoulder Press (aka overhead press)
- 4th base / home plate – Bent over rows
For the 1st inning, everyone completed 1 rep of the exercise at the base.
- 1 merkin
- 1 Squat
- 1 Shoulder Press
- 1 bent over row
The 2nd inning, was 2 reps of the exercise.
- 2 merkins
- 2 squats
- 2 Shoulder presses
- 2 bent of rows
The original plan was to complete 9 innings but the boys were getting after it this morning and everyone completed at minimum 10 innings with some reaching 13.
We finished the morning with a few stretches.
